The Atheist’s Challenge

  1. Where do you get your morality from, and please explain your morality. From the evolutionary development of society
  2. Why do you accept evolution? Explain how you came to your conclusions. Accept it because of the evidence. Got there by reading a lot of interesting science books/articles/webpages and going to museums.
  3. What is the meaning and purpose of your life? To enjoy reality and try to leave it better than how I found it.
  4. What is the greatest thing you have ever done for others? Just trying to be better, work harder, be more loving and patient everyday. And saving kittens from trees.
  5. Would you kill for atheism? What does that even mean? Kill for atheism? As in become an atheist or be killed? Of course not.
  6. Why are you an atheist and consider your position valid? Because being skeptic of a claim is the necessary and unavoidable position until such claims are validated through impartial, repeatable EVIDENCE. Atheist is a term that should not exist in the same way that there is no such term as A-astrologist.
  7. If you died and discovered a god existed, what would you say to he/she/it? Why are you hiding?
  8. What religion is more dangerous in your eyes today and in the past? Today: Radical Islam, Yesterday: Radical Christianity, Tomorrow: Both.
  9. Name three peaceful religions you have no issue with? None
  10. What would it take for you to believe in a god? Repeatable, demonstrable evidence. See Victor Stenger’s book ‘God: the failed hypothesis’ for examples.
  11. Would the world be a better place without religion? One less problem. No more wars in the name of god. No more godly ignorance/oppression in regards to sex, science and politics among many other things.
  12. How do you feel about government and politics? I feel good about them as long as they are kept totally separate from religion.
  13. If you could go back in time and kill Hitler/Stalin as babies so they would never kill the millions in the future, would you do it if time travel was possible? How about bringing him back to the future (or somewhere else in the past) to be educated differently?
  14. Why is stem cell research so important? http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/basics6.asp
  15. Is abortion evil? No.
  16. What would the circumstances be for you to approve of torture as an individual? None. torture has been proven as ineffective and a waste of time.
  17. Should we try to save the animals from going extinct? Yes. Or at least save enough genetic material for a jurassic park type of thing in the future.
  18. Do you approve of capital punishment? Explain. Yes. What is there to explain?
  19. Do you believe in aliens, ghosts, spirits, souls, any supernatural forces? No.
  20. Would you sacrifice yourself for a loved one with a chance you may end up in hell for being an atheist? Imaginary torments have no sway on my decisions.
  21. Explain in detail the process of death. Biological processes stop permanently.
  22. Have you ever been dead? Depends on the definition of death. Does not being born yet qualify as dead?

My answers from forever ago are here.
